10 brand sanitary napkins test report 2: cost-effective Sufi better Shushan poor
In February 2014, the Beijing Municipal Consumer Council announced the results of a number of sanitary napkins. Among them, the penetration of sanitary napkins did not reach the national recommended standards, including the familiar “P&G” Sanbao and "Duoduo" two brands of sanitary napkins.
In March 2014, “Consumer Report” also conducted a third-party testing agency for the more common 10 brands of sanitary napkins. In terms of safety testing, no formaldehyde and fungi were found to be exceeded, and 10 brands were found. Contains fluorescent whitening agent (see "10 brand sanitary napkins test report 1: all contain fluorescent whitening agent, the highest content of Shushan in Taiwan". In terms of performance indicators, the journal has detected the amount of infiltration and PH value for consumers. Look for a price/performance champion in sanitary napkins.
Sanitary napkins have different instantaneous suction capacities
Is the problem of failing to infiltrate ubiquitous?
The amount of infiltration is an expression of the instantaneous absorption capacity of the sanitary napkin and is an important parameter for measuring the penetration performance of the sanitary napkin. If the amount of penetration of the sanitary napkin is too low, rapid and effective absorption cannot be performed, resulting in side leakage. At present, in the national standard GB893-2008 "Sanitary napkins (including sanitary pads)", the recommended amount of infiltration should not be less than 1.8g.
In the 10 brand sanitary napkins sent by this magazine, daily sanitary napkins with a length of 225mm to 245m are selected. Among the indicators of infiltration, 10 brands of sanitary napkins have reached the national standard, including the Shushubao instant clean thin daily sanitary napkin. However, there is a certain difference between the penetration of sanitary napkins of different brands, and this is not determined by the price.
It is worth noting that the domestic brand “Motherwort” sanitary napkins performed relatively well in terms of penetration, reaching 5.1g, almost three times the national standard. The penetration of another domestic sanitary napkin, Anerle, was only 2.1g, barely reaching the standard.
In addition to motherwort, the top three brands include Hushubao and Sophie.
pH is generally neutral
Among the national standards for sanitary napkins, there is also an indicator of pH, ranging from 4.0 to 9.0, with a wide span.
Consumers may have doubts about this: Generally, the pH of the female vagina is acidic. Does the use of sanitary napkins damage the acid-base balance of the vagina and cause gynecological inflammation?
Judging from the test results of this journal, although the scope of the national standard is large, the pH of most sanitary napkins is neutral and slightly alkaline, between 7.2 and 7.9. The closest to neutral is the motherwort and ABC sanitary napkins, with pH values of 7.2 and 7.3, respectively. The most alkaline is the Sophie sanitary napkin, with a pH of 7.9.
For this test result, Professor Yang Xingfen, chief scientist of the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, pointed out that sanitary napkin products contact the skin surface rather than the internal organs, so as long as the pH value of the skin contact is reached.
In this regard, Gao Yunfei, deputy director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the Southern Hospital, also agreed. But she also said that if the built-in tampon is used, the pH difference may damage the acid-base balance of the vagina.
According to the "Consumer Report" reporter, the pH value of skin contact products has detailed regulations in GB18401-2003 "National Textile Product Basic Safety Technical Specifications". The standard stipulates that the pH value of textile products for infants and children directly in contact with skin should be controlled at 4.0-7.5, and the pH value of textile products not directly contacted with skin should be controlled at 4.0-9.0. Generally, the pH of the skin is between 5.5 and 7.0. The sanitary napkin is in contact with the skin as much as the textile product, but the pH value is the same as the pH of the textile product that is not in direct contact with the skin. The national standard for towels is questioned.
Purchase first attention to hygiene
Sanitary napkins are products that are often used by women of all ages, but many female consumers are still lacking in the use of sanitary napkins. If you choose and use sanitary napkins improperly, it may cause gynecological diseases or allergic reactions.
In this regard, Gao Yunfei specifically reminded consumers that the impact of sanitary napkins on women's health is mainly in terms of hygiene, that is, bacterial fungi may be present in sanitary napkins. Some sanitary napkins are easy to breed if the quality is not good, or the storage time is too long. Therefore, consumers should try to buy regular brand products, and choose sanitary napkins with independent packaging.
None of the 10 brand products sent by the Consumer Reports detected a fungus, indicating that the big brands still have certain protection in terms of cleanliness.
The second effect of sanitary napkins on women's health is allergic reactions, especially web sanitary napkins, because they are in close contact with the vulva, and if the texture is not soft enough, it may cause discomfort or allergies.
A high-name worker from the Hengan Group, a sanitary napkin manufacturer, told reporters that sanitary napkin products on the market have been formed through repeated trials. Under normal circumstances, they do not cause allergic reactions, but consumers must guard against counterfeit and shoddy products. .
At present, more and more sanitary napkins containing antibacterial ingredients or important ingredients are added on the market, and sanitary napkins are also used to promote the treatment of gynecological diseases or women's health care. The price of these sanitary napkins is often several times higher than that of ordinary brands, and it can be described as a "luxury" in sanitary napkins.
In this regard, Professor Yang Xingfang of the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention believes that as a sanitary product, health and safety is the key, and compliance with standard products will not cause or aggravate the disease. The nominal therapeutic effect of external hygiene products is mostly exaggerated. If there is gynecological disease, it is necessary to see a doctor.
